Charleston, SC (PRWEB) May 9, 2009 -- Formerly known as Decoration Day, Memorial Day is a federal holiday that commemorates the fallen heroes who have died in military service to our country. On May 25, 2009 Americans will come together and pay their respects at cemeteries, memorials and parades, and a National Moment of Remembrance will take place at 3:00 p.m. www.VetFriends.com - the largest Web site for reuniting U.S. veterans, active military, family and friends - carries the spirit and tradition of Memorial Day and has initiated a Memorial Day campaign - offering a nationwide parade directory, Memorial Day forum and an online casualty memorial, free for all to view and submit information to.
A Memorial Day parade/events directory is available for people to find events in their area to show their support. The directory will highlight locations, dates and times of the Holiday's events at www.vetfriends.com/memorialparades/. Coordinators along with the community can submit and register their events at this site address as well.
An online Memorial Day Forum dedicated to all U.S. veterans and military personnel, past and present, living and deceased can be viewed at www.vetfriends.com/memorial_day_forum/. The forum reaches out to U.S. veterans and anyone else interested in contributing their thoughts and insights in regards to our U.S. military personnel and Memorial Day. Personal stories, sentiments and words of thanks will be posted throughout May and the summer.
U.S. veteran T. Cromack writes to the forum:
"Whenever I smell the fragrance of lilacs, I think of Memorial Day. It was called Decoration Day when I was in the third grade and we laid lilacs on the graves of veterans. Today, I wear my outdated uniform and march with any veteran's group participating in local parades. God Bless those who are willing to 'Lay down their life for their fellow man.'"
To honor the fallen soldiers who have sacrificed the ultimate for our country, VetFriends.com has developed an online casualty memorial at www.vetfriends.com/memorial. Visitors can search by state, military branch and war to view and submit bios and photos in memory of fallen U.S. soldiers.
Other features available on VetFriends.com include: search the member database of over 945,000 people to make contact with old service friends; information on how to obtain military records and medals; message boards; upload past and present photos; military jokes; search and post reunions; military products and discounts; along with a variety of other features and services.
This Memorial Day and all year long, VetFriends.com encourages all Americans to honor and support our U.S. veterans and active military of the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines and Coast Guard -- All heroes of our nation.
Founded in 2000 by U.S. veteran of Desert Storm, D.F. Sutcliffe, thousands of people have been reconnected through VetFriends.com, spanning from World War II through to Operation Desert Storm and the present. The Nike Air Force One - It Ain't What You Think
I just got a new pair of Nike Air Force One shoes, and I am on cloud number nine. My custom Nike Air Force Ones are the coolest thing that I have seen in years. These ones are a special St. Patrick's Day addition, done in bright green and white. Very retro and stylish. I have originally intended save my Nike Air Force One shoes solely for playing basketball, but the thing is, I just can not take them off of my feet. Everyone who sees it casts me a look of envy, because they know that I've got the cash flow to buy the nice threads. Some people say it's shallow, but I ask you, is it shallow to want other people to look up to you because of your nice clothes. Of course it isn't.
